BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS:
MORE THAN JUST PINK

Breast cancer survivors can go almost anywhere and find something that says they are survivors.  “Save the Ta Tas,” “I fight like a girl,” and other kinds of “think pink” statements.  But these individuals are much more than champions of a fight against the disease, they are normal everyday people.

More than 190,000 women (1 in 8) American women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009. With how astonishing this number is, what is more amazing is that these women also manage to do things (have careers, raise children, and compete in athletic events) that most of us have trouble doing even without battling this disease.

Heather Pawinski is a 6-year breast cancer survivor who founded Also A Survivor, a t-shirt company for cancer survivors and the people who support them in the battle.  She has two strong messages that she lives by: 1) You are what makes your life, not cancer  2) Tell the world who you are.

Also A Survivor carries t-shirts with messages ranging from “I’m a Mother,” to “I’m a Triathlete,” to “My Grandmother is my Hero.”  With hundreds of t-shirts and the ability to customize, we have a t-shirt for every cancer survivor and the people who support them.
